ISFJ at Workplace
When it comes to workplace behaviour, the ISFJ exhibits the same qualities that can be found in other parts of his life. The loyal ISFJ will ensure that he stays dedicated to his work. The important thing for a defender is to ensure that what he provides to the company is of good quality. A genuine ISFJ will look to patiently listen to problems at work and find out ways in which they can be solved.
ISFJ puts Personal Values first
ISFJs are serious about their ethics. They ensure that their personal values reflect at work. Therefore, you will find an ISFJ at work doing things like looking after others, upholding tradition, putting in efforts for the result, etc. They take quality seriously and maintaining high standards of both work and principles is at the top of the workplace etiquette.
ISFJs prefer peaceful environments and being in environments that are hyper or hectic can put them in stress. They would rather leave an organization that has high pressure because calmness is more important than the work for them.
You will never find an ISFJ hogging the limelight; it is just not them. Although they are true to their work, the Defender Personality will rarely ever be the one to raise their hands and take credit in public. Given the dedication they put into the work, an ISFJ does want recognition for their effort. However, they prefer this in private. Generally, they like to work behind the scenes and not be known up-front.
The ISFJ person will never fail to help someone in need, even if it is someone they may not like very much. A humble nature, the defender personality has the aim of being helpful by doing the job they do. They feel a sense of commitment to the work and the people around them.
Nevertheless, the ISFJ individual will not let his guard down easily at work. They tend to be reserved and won’t reveal much about themselves. But their personality is such that even at work, they tend to make friends.
ISFJ Work Strengths
The ISFJ takes great pride in their skills and work, but not in a conventional way. The Defender Personality is all about serving others. Their skills are best utilized when putting to use for someone else’s benefit. They aren’t looking for monetary gains or public displays of appreciation. A heartfelt thanks from the person they helped is all that matters to them.
They tend to take things to heart. Emotional by nature, ISFJ individuals seek satisfaction from the work they do and a disappointed client will immediately disappoint them as well. They take up causes very seriously and once they have aligned it with their own values, they will go to any lengths to give their best. This drives their purpose at work and as a reward, they seek positive reinforcement from those the defender personality trusts and loves.
The ISFJ type people are serious about work and wish to see the same in others. When things go wrong, the defender personality will immediately blame themselves. They need a rationale behind things and when someone asks for a change with no meaning, it sends them into a stressful zone.
Though they require appreciation from others, they will be suspicious of those who start showering compliments and praises at the beginning of a relationship. This is because they take their time in forming bonds.
ISFJ Persnality's Weaknesses at Work
Some people tend to take advantage of the ISFJ’s helpful nature. This can cause two issues. The first is that the ISFJ person will feel overburdened with other peoples’ work. Secondly, the inability to refuse can add to the stress. Since they avoid conflicting situations, they find it extremely difficult to refuse to take on other peoples’ work. Couple that with their belief that one must help everyone and life can get stressful.
The ISFJ employee is a sensitive soul and can’t take criticism easily. Any form of criticism is thought of as a personal attack. The defender personality will keep thinking about it for days and start to feel guilty about it. Since their happiness depends on others’ moods and happiness, a change in the workplace aura will cause a change in them as well.
You will often find ISFJs take a bigger share of the guilt or burden. They also will not be able to jump from one task to another in a jiffy. This makes it difficult for this type to adjust in areas, such as startups, where change is constant. They, instead, they love fixed and stable ones.
Traditional Mindset of an ISFJ personality
The ISFJ personality prefers to stick by defined and set rules rather than experiment and take risks. Because they are disciplined, the areas that are best for the defender personality are those that require adherence to rules and norms. For any task, ISFJs prefer clear and defined goals. Without clarity, they find it hard to work. With clarity, they will take up an organized approach.
Very rarely will you find an ISFJ dropping discipline for a risky venture? Jobs or projects that require improvisation aren’t the ones where they will thrive. The less ambiguous the work, the better they perform.
Because of the ISFJ nature to stick to existing norms, people assume they don’t adapt to change. It isn’t as if ISFJs are averse to change, just that they need time to adjust. That said, traditional workplaces are best suited for the defender personality rather than a workplace that is fast-paced, dynamic and constantly changing.
ISFJ Personality Types at across levels
As a part of a team, the defender personality is loyal at his work, as has been clearly understood. Even though they would have laurels to flaunt, the ISFJ will not boast about his achievements or put the medals up for display. Because of this, people tend to not notice the ISFJ’s achievements and they may miss out on opportunities. They are also very attached to their superiors and tend to follow them if they leave the company.
The Defender personality does not like to be in the leadership position. However, career grow pushes them to take up such roles, even if the ISFJ dislikes it. Their warm and caring attitude, however, makes for loveable managers. People will find them easy to approach and compassionate. Since they don’t wish to order people, their priority is to ensure things work smoothly by coordinating between everyone. The defender is unlikely to be at executive level positions but as managers, they can create a good work environment.
As a colleague and a team player, defenders are the most hardworking. Others tend to misuse their good nature. Since ISFJs have a hard time turning down a request, lazy colleagues are likely to dump work on them. Such incidents can cause stress to the defender personality.
ISFJs are a social creature, despite being introverted. They find the office to be an extension of their personal space and dedicate equally. Their aim is to make the office and its people a better and happier place, even at the cost of them taking up excessive work. Other personality types find it hard to match the ISFJ loyalty level and this is a win for any company that hires an ISFJ. Managers will rarely have qualms from the work of an ISFJ.
